I haven't updated the website in quite some time now. For those of you who don't know, we went to Germany about a month ago. We had an amazing experience! Zane went through both procedures (bone marrow collection and lumbar puncture) with absolutely NO side effects! We told people to pray for MILLIONS of cells and we got it! They were able to harvest 7.3 MILLION stem cells! They told us average was 3-5 million! He got the stem cells both through the lumbar puncture and intravenously. We noticed in recovery that he had his left hand open. Previously, it was always kept in a fist. Trying not to get too excited, we decided to just watch him and see what happens. Well, his left hand is now open and he is trying to use it purposefully! This is a HUGE gain! The week after we returned, he said "Balloon" for the first time. He seems to be a lot more social and happy. All of his therapists have told me that they can already tell a difference. In Germany, they told us it might take 6 weeks or so to start seeing anything major and that we can still see improvements for up to a year! We have already started considering going for a second treatment next year. We are so thankful to everyone for their help and support to get Zane this treatment!
